Founded in 1996, VNET was China's first carrier neutral third-party IDC enterprise. Since 2013, VNET has served as the exclusive operations partner for Microsoft’s Cloud business in China. In 2024, VNET rapidly implemented its "ALL in AI" strategy, and became one of the first NCPs for NVIDIA in China. As of Q1 2025, VNET operates more than 50 data centers in over 30 cities across China with operating capacity close to 1 gigawatt (GW) including both hyperscale clusters and urban campus data centers. In June 2025, VNET unveiled its Hyperscale 2.0 initiative, which aims to develop 10 GW of green computing capacity in both China and overseas markets. It will launch in key regions including Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Beijing, and the Yangzi River Region, and will feature MW-level racks, 100MW single facilities, and GW-scale campuses. Hyperscale 2.0 represents VNET’s next-generation AIDC (Artificial Intelligence Data Center) innovation.
