Founded in 1778, La Scala (Italian: Teatro alla Scala), is the world's most famous opera house. Located in Milan, Italy, it presents opera, ballet and concert performances. Its season opens on 7 December. It has a Museum and an Academy for Performing Arts.

The Royal Opera House La Monnaie is Belgium's federal opera house. It is a cultural meeting point in the centre of Brussels and has for more than 300 years gathered people together for opera and dance performances, recitals and concerts.
