VisuaLingual is a design/print studio based in Indianapolis, IN. Seven years ago, the business began when a batch of seed bombs exploded on the scene. Quickly, the work caught the eye of national publications like Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and House Beautiful and national retailers including Anthropologie, Williams-Sonoma and Restoration Hardware and we started producing seed bombs by the thousands. Seven years later, the company is a brother and sister venture for Michael Stout and Anne Fassnacht. Working out of their Indianapolis based studio they translate their creative energy into developing ways to share and connect people to each other and the places they live through writing and products about gardening, food and adventures. Seed bombs are still at the core of the business, as VL continues to offer new ways to connect people with the people and place around them. Michael grew up as a suburban hooligan bugging his older sister and spending his time in train yards, alleyways and rooftops while studying graphic design at Herron School of Art and Design. Later he wandered aimlessly, working in print and copy shops. Interest in art and public space led him to earn a Masters in Urban Planning at the University of Cincinnati, where he learned to crunch numbers, make maps, and appreciate the city for its chaos. Michael's focus on urban design and economic development led to his years of work in the public art field as an arts administrator. At VisuaLingual, he is Chief Exploring Officer, constantly looking for new adventures and ways to connect his love of the outdoors and urban spaces. Anne bloomed as a wallflower, spending her time reading and learning as much as possible while trying to keep her brother out of trouble. After studying Journalism/Public Relations at Ball State University she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and taught herself HTML and website design before moving on to the grocery business.
