We’re making the transition simple for our 1.6 million customers. We are committed to reaching net zero emissions by 2050. As part of this we’ll transition out of coal by 2040, in a way that doesn’t leave communities or our people behind. We’ve ensured the smooth operation of over 11,517 km of high-voltage transmission lines and 136 substations and switching stations across NSW and the ACT, with interconnections to QLD and VIC. Our most crucial work is leading the transition to Australia’s clean energy future. The traditional coal system that served our country for decades is nearing the end of its life, to be replaced by wind and solar generation. We’re making the right decisions now to prepare for the opportunities and challenges ahead – a changing climate, population growth and technology innovation. Ausgrid is Australia's largest distributor of electricity, provided products and services to 1.7 million customers in Sydney, the Hunter and the Central Coast.
