In December of 1993, Joe D. Leach returned to Jackson, Mississippi and opened Ameitech / South. Ameitech / South supplies woodworking machinery, tools, and supplies from Mississippi through the entire U.S. Ameitech / South moved into it's new building in Ridgeland, Mississippi in February, 1995. Joe's woodworking adventure started in ninth grade wood shop. Since that time he has been involved with wooden boats, furniture, caskets, commercial and residential cabinets and case goods. Joe has been involved with evaluating machines for several major woodworking machine companies and has visited a number of machine manufacturers as well as woodworking facilities in the U.S. and Japan. While operating Marine Supply, he manufactured several machines and other woodworking devices. His customer base includes Fortune 500 companies, carpenters, contractors, artisans and hobbyists. Joe Leach owned and operated Marine Supply for slightly over fifteen years in Jackson, Mississippi. In 1991 he sold Marine Supply and the new owner changed the company name and has since discontinued selling woodworking machines and supplies. Ameitech / South is solely owned by Joe D. Leach. In 1994 Mr. Leach, along with his son, Eric Leach, built Ameitech / South's 9600 square foot building in the Interstate 55 / Natchez Trace Industrial Park in Ridgeland, Mississippi - part of the Jackson, Mississippi metropolitan area. Joe and Eric also operate a custom commercial millwork and casegoods shop that doubles as the company's demonstration shop. Show room, warehouse, shop, and administrative functions all take place at this location.
