Virtual Viewbox Inc. is a medical innovation, software development and capital equipment company founded in by Douglas K Smith MD to develop creative solutions for medical interoperability challenges. Dr. Smith board certified in both radiology and clinical informatics. Dr. Smith is a serial entrepreneur with extensive experience in medical informatics & medical software design and development. In past years, doctors gathered around a lighted x-ray viewbox to view xrays, collaborate about optimal medical treatment, and for professional social networking. Dr. Smith envisioned a similar virtualized experience utilizing a HIPAA compliant, private cloud based platform within which similar medical collaboration could be accomplished between medical providers trapped within separate EMR systems and RadCloud and Virtual Viewbox were envisioned. Virtual Viewbox Inc. designed and created RadCloud® in 2010, a pioneering HIPPA compliant, private cloud based platform for delivery of radiology services. Using the RadCloud platform, Virtual Viewbox® focused on creating innovative inventions in the field of medical interoperability and medical informatics and owns 10 USPTO patents pending in the areas of medical interoperability and Federated methods for data sharing between EMR systems and proprietary medical enterprises.
