The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute joins the basic science, life science, bioinformatics, and engineering strengths of Virginia Tech with the medical practice and medical education experience of Carilion Clinic. The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine develops physician thought leaders through inquiry, research, and discovery, using an innovative, patient-centered curriculum. The Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute seeks to make transformative scientific advances in understanding and addressing the fundamental processes of human health and disease; train the next generation of leading biomedical scientists; facilitate discovery-based medical education; and sustain and strengthen the Virginia Tech Carilion partnership in order to develop one of the nation’s premiere biomedical research environments.
