The Vietnamese Student Association of Minnesota, otherwise known as VSAM, as a student organization, provide opportunities to share the Vietnamese culture, history, and traditions with students and the community at large. We seek to build and maintain partnerships with both the Vietnamese and university communities and to help students at Minnesota universities assimilate to college life. VSAM was first registered in 1976 and is a well-established student organization at the University of Minnesota. VSAM organizes a variety of events every year to share and promote Vietnamese culture, history, and traditions. VASM is primarily known for its annual Tết Trung Thu Festival and Tết Show. Along with sharing and promoting Vietnamese culture, the Vietnamese Student Association of Minnesota also strives to form valuable connections with the student populace and local Vietnamese and Asian communities. VSAM frequently collaborates with other student groups and ethnic organizations to help build this sense of community and to allow a sharing of ideas and culture. VSAM is also very active in UVSA Midwest events, and is currently one of the top fundraising VSA’s in the Midwest region of the United States. In addition, VSAM continually works closely with the Vietnamese community in Minnesota to ensure the community’s strong relationship with the organization.
