Video Collaboratory, LLC is a rapidly growing startup that produces software products disrupting the field of video centered collaboration. Developed with funding from the National Science Foundation, the flagship product is a web-based, private platform for group collaboration around video documents. Beyond simply viewing video, the platform is equipped to allow you, your co-workers, students or friends to mark up, analyze and discuss the video on any device, at any time and from any location. The Video Collaboratory’s “value added” takes video from being a “just watched” medium to one that conjures interest, invites interaction and ensures involvement. Ease, efficiency and accuracy are hallmarks of the Video Collaboratory. With video, comments and sketching on the same page, the platform enables specific and detailed conversation around the medium. Features such as looping, segment selection and speed control make asynchronous, distributed discussion about video as clear and precise as when stakeholders are watching together in one room. With intuitive navigation and comments pinned to segments of interest, there is more time to work with the material. Clicking a comment moves the video playhead to the segment automatically with no need to reference timecodes to specify context.
