Texas de Brazil is a family-owned and operated restaurant company providing traditional Brazilian hospitality and cuisine to thousands of guests each day. Founded in 1998 and based in Dallas, Texas de Brazil is recognized as one of the country’s premier Brazilian steakhouses, known as Churrascarias.
The menu features a wide array of grilled meats including choice cuts of beef, pork, lamb and poultry. Each are prepared in the time-honored Brazilian method of cooking over an open flame and carved table-side by the restaurant’s authentically-clad Gauchos. Each restaurant also offers an elaborate salad area with more than 50 fresh selections as well as an extensive wine list and dessert menu. Beautifully appointed private dining rooms are available for special functions and larger parties.
Today, the company operates 49 locations total - 43 domestic and six international - with additional planned openings for 2016 to include Sawgrass, FL
Café Brazil opened for business in December 1991, nestled in the Lakewood area of Dallas, Texas. Café Brazil was founded as a quaint, ten-table restaurant, where you could enjoy a great breakfast and specialty roasted coffees from around the world in a smoke-free, eclectic, relaxing and fun environment. The concept in its original form was an instant success with crowds lined up outside the door 24 hours a day.
Soon, Café Brazil expanded to University Park, where the concept entrenched itself as a very popular weekend destination and the premier "deep night" dining spot. Locations were added throughout the Metroplex in Deep Ellum, Cedar Springs, Richardson and Carrollton. In April 2004, the Company was purchased by a group of local restaurant executives with the idea of enhancing the brand, rejuvenating existing locations and growing Café Brazil beyond its successful roots. In July 2005, Café Brazil opened its first new restaurant in 4 years in McKinney, Texas to rave reviews. In May 2006, Café Brazil moved from its aging Lakewood spot to a newly renovated Lower Greenville Avenue location. In October 2006, the Company added its 8th location in Plano at the northeast corner of Coit & 190. In June 2007, Cafe Brazil Addison opened at the southwest corner of Beltline & Quorum. In the Summer of 2008, we opened in the historic Bishop Arts District, at Bishop & Davis. We extended our reach to Ft. Worth near the TCU campus in 2011 and to Denton in 2014.
Café Brazil has received widespread critical acclaim over the last few years including multiple awards from the Dallas Observer, D Magazine, DFW Child and FTW:The Magazine and others including Best Breakfast, Best Brunch, Best Late Night Dining, Best Coffee, Best BLT and Best Grilled Cheese.
The future calls for continued expansion in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Keep your eyes open for a Café Brazil in your neighborhood!
Your steak won't be served to you lying flat on a plate. It will be served quite hot, very adeptly seasoned, by a swift-moving gaucho (trained Brazilian chef), carrying it vertically on a large skewer. They'll slice it and you'll grab each slice with a pair of nifty little tongs provided at your place setting. The service and carving of the meats are controlled by each individual guest with a red and green sided card. The green side indicates that you are ready and waiting on meats. When you've reached your limit, turn the red side up. Have small tastes at first; there are many kinds of meat (12 in total). These include bacon-wrapped filet, marinated chicken drumsticks, lamb, pork and beef ribs, and the house specialty, Picanha, or the prime cut of sirloin. For our vegetarian guests, we do offer a bountiful salad bar with over 30 different items. Come experience the essence of Southern Brazil right here at Chama Gaucha.
