Vialisa Foundation Information

Small-scale projects that improve self-reliance of underprivileged youth This foundation was established in the Netherlands and has been active in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka since October 2004. We commit ourselves to street children and working youths or adolescents (from the age of 15) in the slums of Dhaka. These are often youths – if not still children – responsible for an entire family, as income from one or both parents is lacking or insufficient to live off. Our activities aim at building a better future for these youths. Target group Our target group consists of educated and uneducated adolescents aged between 15 and 22 years. These adolescents live in slums, shelters or on the streets. Some with relatives, others all alone. Mission Vialisa coaches underprivileged youths in establishing their own independent lives. Vialisa does this by helping them find a job. To this end, Vialisa developed various education and training programs. Objective Our objective is to: • have youths placed with companies that do not exploit them or let them do jobs in hazardous conditions • provide youths vocational training • provide them with a mentor who coaches them in their career planning • assist them in the event of medical problems • teach them how to plan financially and save for emergencies • help them in the event of problems, domestic or at work
