The Mountaineers is a community of outdoor enthusiasts passionate about exploration, discovery, learning, and conservation. Founded in 1906 by 151 visionaries, our members named peaks, explored waterways, and built trails to uncover unique and challenging landscapes. We helped create the North Cascades Wilderness area, and passed the National Wilderness Act. Founded in 1976 by passionate and renowned mountaineers Tony and Gillean Daffern, RMB has grown to become one of Canada's more vibrant, long-standing and evolving book publishers. Established to specialize primarily in guidebooks for hikers, climbers and skiers, RMB has repositioned itself for the 21st century and now successfully publishes and promotes a dynamic, growing list of provocative, engaging and award-winning books on mountain history, adventure travel, outdoor culture, environmental consciousness, contemporary photography and children's books. Our annual offerings (20–30 titles per year) are always unique and we're proud of the diverse lists that we continue to put forward.
