Veritable is an electronic design automation (EDA) company that was founded in 1998 to focus on the verification and test of the integrated circuits (ICs) that power increasingly miniaturized electronic systems such as cellular phones, personal computers and workstations. These products have been enabled by significant advances in electronic circuit design and manufacturing technology that have made it possible to fabricate circuits integrated on a single silicon chip that contain millions of transistors implemented in 0.15 micron (or smaller) deep sub-micron geometry. Electronic design automation (EDA) software has been an important enabling technology that has helped designers achieve the rapid advances that have been made in the design of integrated circuits (ICs) by bringing greater efficiency and productivity to electronic design. The adoption of design re-use methodologies based on pre-existing design intellectual property (IP) and the use of logic synthesis to automatically synthesize soft IP cores or user defined logic (UDL) from high-level functional or register transfer level (RTL) descriptions to logic gates is helping reduce design times. However, test and verification have now become the main bottlenecks consuming up to 80% of the design development cycle.
