Utility Design Services (UDS) was formed in 2007 as part of a rapidly-growing electrical contractor with a focus on the design-build needs of utility clients. Growth in UDS’s stand-alone engineering capability lead to its emergence as a distinct entity in 2010. Today UDS continues to serve a diverse customer base throughout the Midwest as a division of Donco Electrical Construction LLC, wholly owned by President Candice Fowler. While our core practice initially centered on electrical transmission and distribution design, UDS has grown to provide a wide array of services for customers: Overhead and underground transmission/distribution design Substation design Gas transmission/distribution design Fiber optic design Utility project management Storm restoration support Project staking Computer-aided design and drafting (CAD) Commercial/industrial wiring design UDS is a Registered Professional Engineering Firm in Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Our client base includes public sector utilities, cooperatives, municipal utilities, contractors and private companies. We provide complete solutions with engineering, design, project management and as-built documentation customized according to client needs and budgets. As a division of Donco, we also have in-house commercial, industrial and utility electrical construction resources as well as fiber optic/outside plant communications capabilities. Our vertical integration gives customers the option to work with a single highly-coordinated team for the design, construction and maintenance of their infrastructure. The efficiencies we create reduce the expense of coordinating multiple firms.
