Uss Avenger Information

We are people of all ages and from all walks of life who enjoy Star Trek and Science Fiction in all their many forms. Star Trek is our most common interest, and the one thing we all share. But Star Trek is just the beginning, as our members also enjoy science fiction TV series, movies, and books ranging from Star Wars to Babylon 5 to the works of Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Larry Niven, and William Gibson. If you're interested in the future, in the Star Trek vision or in the many other worlds of science fiction in books and films and TV series, then the Avenger is the group for you. Our Prime Directive is to share our interest in Star Trek and science fiction in an open environment, to build new friendships, and to have fun. We welcome you to join us! Your "tour of duty" on the U.S.S. Avenger begins with your official membership package, which includes a certificate, ID card, personnel roster listing every Avenger member, and the Avenger Officer's Manual, packed with everything you need to know to get involved in the fun. Each club member brings his or her special abilities to the group. We recognize this value by assigning fictional ranks and positions aboard the ship, reflecting the interests of the members. In addition, participation allows you to advance in rank. You also have the opportunity to join one of six divisions comprised of members with related interests, just like crewmembers aboard fictional starships. These divisions are: Communications, Engineering, Medical, Operations, Sciences, and Security. The Avenger offers a wide variety of activities every month! We may be a Star Trek and science fiction fan club, but we have many interests and activities to share, and we love to do things as a group of friends. Writer's workshops, museum and theater trips, movie nights, parties, stargazing, acting workshops, Renaissance faires and feasts, amusement parks, camping, picnics, and Star Trek and Sci-Fi conventions are just a few examples of what we do. Finally, the Avenger brings you the latest news and information from the worlds of Star Trek and our parent organization, Starfleet. Your yearly membership includes six issues of Avenger News, the chapter's newsletter. Articles, updates, regular columns, and special features will keep you informed and involved.
