Education still teaches young people primarily to reproduce knowledge. AI can already do that faster and at lower cost. The skills that will matter most are emotional awareness, communication, resilience and stress management. Yet schools do not teach them systematically. UPYourself believes in a future where every young person has access to these skills: not as an “extra”, but as a foundation for wellbeing, learning and success. We are closing that gap. UPYourself provides a social-emotional learning programme for Dutch secondary education (vo) and vocational education (mbo): ready-to-use lessons that mentors and teachers can deliver immediately. Evidence-informed and structurally embedded in the curriculum. Not a one-off project week, but a permanent part of the timetable. For municipalities, our programme can be deployed as universal prevention: reaching entire student populations rather than only young people who are already struggling. It supports objectives related to wellbeing, youth mental health and reducing early school leaving. For schools, it enables meaningful action on wellbeing and citizenship education without adding avoidable pressure to teachers’ time or workload. We collaborate with schools, municipalities and educational organisations that view student wellbeing and emotional intelligence as a strategic priority. Curious?
