Upwell Turtles Information

Upwell is dedicated to protecting turtles at sea, where they spend most of their lives. Even with strong protections at nesting beaches, pernicious threats offshore can push sea turtle populations into decline. Six of the seven sea turtle species found around the world are threatened or endangered. Critically endangered populations, like East Pacific leatherbacks, are on the verge of extinction. Upwell uses innovative tools to track sea turtles in the ocean and even predict their movements. By understanding where turtles go and how they use different marine habitats, we can better advance protections for turtles at sea.
