Upper Peninsula State Fair Competitors

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives is the lower house of the bicameral Pennsylvania General Assembly, the legislature of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. There are 203 members, elected for two-year terms from single member districts. Following the 2012 elections, the house consisted of 111 Republicans and 92 Democrats. Republican Sam Smith was elected Speaker of the House on January 4, 2011. In 2012, a State Representative district had an average population of 60,498 residents.

Annually attracting more than a million visitors from all over the world, the Iowa State Fair is the single largest event in the state and Iowa’s great celebration, a salute to the state’s best in entertainment, agriculture, industry and achievement. The Fair boasts the state's largest arts show, the largest foods department of any state fair and one of the world’s largest livestock shows. Midwest Living magazine named the Fair one of the “Top 30 Things Every Midwesterner Should Experience.” The Fair is also included in the New York Times best-selling travel book, 1,000 Places to See Before You Die, and is the subject of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s award-winning musical, State Fair. The Fair employs roughly 60 full-time staff members to help plan and execute each year's Fair as well as countless seasonal and Fairtime staff brought on in the summer months to help prepare for the upcoming celebration. The Minnesota State Fair is the region’s most iconic end-of-summer tradition. Twelve days of fun ending Labor Day, the Great Minnesota Get-Together annually welcomes nearly 2 million guests to a world-class showcase of livestock, agriculture, horse, art, talent and creative activities competitions; 1,600+ food items (including 80+ on-a-stick); 900 free entertainment shows by 100+ acts; Mighty Midway and Kidway; 1,000+ vendors; hundreds of demonstrations and exhibits for kids and adults; and more. The fair employs nearly 90 year-round full-time staff members. During the summer, about 450 seasonal staff are added. For the 12 days of the fair, approximately 2,300 people are hired to work for fair departments, and commercial exhibitors employ another 10,000. The Minnesota State Fair is financially self-supporting and does not receive government funding. Revenue from ticket sales, percentages and fees paid by vendors, facility rental, sponsorships and other sources brings the fair to life - powering memorable experiences, world-class operations, and exceptional care of the historic fairgrounds.
