Almost a billion people in the world cannot read. Text-based websites and apps don’t work for them, and as a result, much of the world hasn’t been able to adopt digital services. We are making voice models so people can access knowledge and digital services simply by speaking to a computer in their local language. We are currently focusing our efforts on Pakistan, the fifth most populous country in the world, where 42% of the adult population cannot read.
