At UpDoc, we are pioneering Clinical AI: software that performs clinical tasks traditionally carried out by clinicians, moving beyond informing care to helping deliver it. For patients living with chronic disease, care needs evolve every day. Medications need adjustment, new symptoms emerge and treatment plans need follow-through. Health systems need the capacity to respond between visits. UpDoc is building the clinical intelligence and care delivery infrastructure to make autonomous, physician-directed care a core capability of health systems. We bring together clinical reasoning, patient information and care team coordination so treatment can evolve with each patient’s needs. This enables a new care delivery model: Remote Patient Intervention (RPI), developed by our founders. Through RPI, Clinical AI carries a clinician’s treatment plan forward between visits, extending care into patients’ daily lives while keeping it connected to their physician and care team. In the Stanford MIVA trial, RPI enabled nearly 5X more medication changes without more clinician visits, improved medication adherence by 65%, and helped over 3X as many patients achieve blood sugar control. Our vision is a healthcare system that can provide more frequent, proactive and continuous care without sacrificing the physician-patient relationship. We are building AI to extend the care physicians can provide, so patients receive more of their doctor’s care, not less.
