uPage is a free-to-use website creation platform targeting people in developing economies such as Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Bangladesh, and other similar emerging markets. Access to the internet is becoming new and growing phenomenon throughout the developing world; millions of people are using social media to share their stories and businesses are turning to e-commerce as the developing world becomes more digital. However, individual websites are the building blocks of the World Wide Web and there isn’t a single platform available that makes website building a simple and affordable process for millions of people in developing countries. Existing website building tools are difficult to use and expensive for most users in developing countries thus people end up hiring local ‘web developers’ who often build sub-standard websites at an inflated cost. We want to change this! Our mission is to empower people in developing countries to be able to build localized affordable websites with ease. uPage was born out of BASE, Pakistan’s first free web hosting company, with a vision to make website building easy + free. Our aim is to assist individuals and businesses in developing countries take full advantage of the internet by being able to easily create an online presence. We want to do this by creating a simpler and better website building tool with templates/designs localized to the communities we target.
