The University of Zadar, established in 2002 by the Croatian Parliament, renews a centuries-old academic tradition dating back to the founding of Studium generale in 1396. Despite termination in 1807, modern higher education began in 1955 with the Faculty of Philosophy. Today, it's the largest fully integrated university in Croatia, with 27 departments, five research centers, and two teaching centers. Under the Bologna Reform, the University of Zadar follows the 3 + 2 + 3 cycle, offering three-year undergraduate, two-year graduate, and three-year doctoral programs. Two integrated programs last five years. There are 35 full-time undergraduate programs, with eight offered part-time. At the graduate level, there are 43 full-time programs, with eight available in both full-time and part-time formats. Programs cover humanities, social sciences, and diverse fields such as natural, biotechnical, technical, biomedical, and interdisciplinary studies. The University of Zadar offers seven doctoral and one postgraduate specialist program, independently or in collaboration. Joint doctoral programs include Sociology with the University of Teramo and International Relations with Libertas International University.
