University of Sussex Students' Union Information

The University of Sussex Students' Union employs over around 60 graduate and career staff and roughly 260 students on a part-time basis. We also support over a thousand volunteers. Sussex Students' Union is a dynamic organisation where values count with a vibrant culture and environment that few places could match. Our staff frequently say that the people they work with and the supportive atmosphere is the best thing about working here. We’ve been audited as a Very Good Students’ Union, by Quality Students' Unions with a “significant number of areas of excellence,” meaning when you work here you know your work makes a meaningful difference to the lives of students. Not only this but one of the areas we scored “Excellent” in was people, so you can be confident that this is an excellent place to work! For students, working or volunteering with us can be a great way to make new friends and have a good time while you're at Sussex. For career staff, whether you work with student sports teams, in our Finance Team, or even letting student housing, we offer rewarding work where you'll work closely with students, helping them achieve their full potential. We provide opportunities for you to take ownership of your work as we want our staff to find work fulfilling. We also have a Working from Home Policy and actively consider requests for flexible working. We have a variety of locations, all on our campus on the edge of the South Downs close to Brighton & Hove - we are also the only university in England located in a national park. The Union is all about working with students to help them get the most out of their time here at the University of Sussex.
