Because of the number of incompetent, indigent elderly individuals living in Stark County who do not have family or supportive others to be qualified as a guardian, GSS will provide a system of information and referrals wherby guardians can be identified, appointed, and trained to meet the needs of these vulnerable people. The GSS mission statement is as follows: "Due to the growing needs of the elderly and disabled in the community, the purpose and mission of this corporation is to assist with the provision and/or coordination of guardianship and case management services for those indigent persons subjected to or in need of a guardianship." GSS will establish and maintain a good working relationship with all organizations available to the client population so that GSS may provide information and referral services both for the community and any individuals considering guardianship.
