The UBI was established under the Certification of Incorporation No.5762 dated 20/8/1994 issued by the department of Registrar of Companies in Ministry of Trade in accordance with provisions of Article No. (21) of the Companies Act No.(36) for the year (1983) .Its capital was (1) billion dinars and it had a certificate of banking practice in accordance with provisions of Article forty one of the Law of Central Bank of Iraq No. (64) in (1976) and began its banking and investing operations at the beginning of 1995.
