Union Guy Information

International Guards Union of America Local 3 was chartered on May 1st 1948. Our charter covers every Security Police Officer employed at the Y12 National Security Complex, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Oak Ridge Protective Force. Also includes Alarm Station Operators at the previously stated sites and the Firearms Instructors at the Central Training Facility. Since 1948 the IGUA has aggressively represented its membership to ensure that their working conditions, hours of work and wages are equitable and fair. Our Union consists of an executive board made up of the President and Vice President, Recording Secretary and Financial Secretary who represent all 3 sites and a Chief Steward and Trustee at each site. We are currently affiliated with the National Council of Security Police which is an organization that is currently comprised of Several Unions representing 11 Individual US Department of Energy Sites and approximately 2,200 Security Police Officers throughout the Department of Energy Complex.
