Investment into landfill recovery activities and landfill recovery/processing technologies is severely lacking. Unearthing Technologies wants to play a part in bringing us one step closer to cleaning up the mess we have all contributed to by focusing and accelerating investment into historic landfills. As recovery economics, environmental obligations and secondary resource markets continue to evolve, some historic sites may justify fresh technical/economic review. Historic waste often contains materials that were not worth recovering years ago but now justify proper assessment. Unearthing Technologies is the exploration arm of the circular economy where we turn dormant landfill liabilities into quantified resource assets. Our role is very early-stage. We don’t operate the extraction or processing projects ourselves. Instead we focus on understanding whether a site contains recoverable value, what the technical constraints are, and whether future remediation could be commercially viable.
