For generations, the University of Mannheim has been preparing students to take on leadership roles in business, academia, and society. One of the university’s strengths in this task is its profile, which is characterized by the economic and social sciences. It is in these fields that the University of Mannheim has repeatedly been ranked as one of the top 20 European research institutions. Staff members at six schools and departments teach and carry out research in Business Administration, Economics, the Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, and Business Informatics and Mathematics. The University of Mannheim's campus is located in the city center of Mannheim and mainly centers around its main campus – the Mannheim Palace (completed in 1760). The university has around 12,000 full-time students, 200 professors, 840 academic and 570 non-academic staff and a total income of more than €123 million in 2018. It is organized into 6 schools.

Mit etwa 14.000 Studierenden, jährlich fast 2000 Absolventinnen und Absolventen, 10 Fachbereichen, etwa 90 Studiengängen, elf In- und fünf An-Instituten sowie vier Kompetenzplattformen gehört die FH Aachen mit den beiden Standorten Aachen und Jülich zu den größten und wichtigsten Fachhochschulen Deutschlands. Hier arbeiten rund 240 Professorinnen und Professoren sowie etwa 900 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter in Lehre, Forschung und Verwaltung. Die FH Aachen bietet ihren Studierenden ein Studium, das sie ausgezeichnet auf die Tätigkeit in modernen und zukunftsweisenden Berufen vorbereitet. Das Studienangebot der Hochschule umfasst neben den klassischen MINT-Fächern wie Mathematik, Informatik, Naturwissenschaften und Technik noch die Bereiche Wirtschaftswissenschaften und Gestaltung. Die etwa 90 Bachelor- und Masterstudiengänge bieten neben dem Vollzeitstudium auch eine zunehmende Auswahl von marktgerechten dualen Studiengängen. Hochschule der Medien is a public university (sponsored by the state of Baden-Württemberg) which teaches media specialists. Since the 1st September 2001, Hochschule der Medien has brought together the combined know-how of the former Fachhochschule für Druck und Medien (HDM) – a traditional educational institution for printing- and media-technologies - and Hochschule für Bibliotheks- und Informationswesen (HBI). Hochschule der Medien covers a broad spectrum of media expertise: from printed media to electronic media, from design to business administration, from library science to advertising, from content for media to packaging technology, from computer science to information science to publishing and electronic media. About 30 accredited Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes mirror this diversity. At the moment, more than 5000 students are registered at the university.
