UK Regulators' Network Competitors

HSE is the national independent watchdog for work-related health, safety and illness. Our mission is to prevent death, injury and ill health in Britain's workplaces. We are an independent regulator and act in the public interest to reduce work-related death and serious injury across Great Britain’s workplaces.

We enable a fair and thriving financial services market for the good of consumers and the economy. We do this by: - Regulating the conduct of approximately 50,000 businesses - Prudentially supervising 48,000 firms Our Head Office is based in London, and we have offices in Edinburgh and Leeds. Firms and individuals must be authorised or registered by us to carry out certain activities. Before we grant authorisation, firms must demonstrate that they meet a range of requirements. We then supervise these firms to make sure they continue to meet our standards and rules after they’re authorised. If firms and individuals fail to meet these standards, we have a range of enforcement powers we can use.

Ofcom is the UK's communications regulator. We make sure people get the best from their home phone and mobile services, as well as keeping an eye on TV, radio and on-demand content. We also ensure people don’t get scammed and are protected from bad practice. We also oversee the universal postal service, and the airwaves used by wireless devices. Right now, technology is changing how people work, interact and enjoy themselves. Much of our work is focused on making sure everybody has access to the communications technology they need and that competition can thrive.
