The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme is a Japanese government initiative that promotes international exchange and strengthens foreign language education across Japan. Since its establishment in 1987, the Programme has welcomed over 75,000 participants from around the world, including more than 11,000 from the UK alone. JET participants work in schools and local government offices throughout Japan, fostering grassroots international understanding and building lasting cultural connections. Today, the Programme hosts over 5,000 participants from 57 countries each year, creating a vibrant global network of current and former JETs dedicated to cross-cultural collaboration and educational enrichment.
