Since 1975 UHC Family Medicine has been providing a high standard of care to the people of North Central West Virginia. United Hospital Center's commitment to education and exceptional medical care have allowed the UHC Family Medicine Residency to produce excellent family physicians prepared for various health care settings from traditional family practice to emergency room to hospitalist, wherever their interests may have led. Over the past 40+ years, approximately 60 % of our graduates have chosen to remain in the area - giving back to a supportive institution and generations of families in a grateful community. The devotion of our faculty to the success of our residents helps set us apart. Our medical staff is large and diverse enough to provide a top notch educational experience, but as a community hospital our faculty know all of our residents by name and genuinely want them to succeed. Our team of physician faculty, PharmD, clinical psychologist and support staff provide an energetic educational experience structured to meet all ACGME and AOA requirements while meeting the goals of each individual resident physician. In a state-of-the art hospital, built in 2010, and a Family Practice Clinic that has transitioned to a Patient Centered Medical Home environment, we provide a modern education with a small town feel that provides our residents the best of both worlds.
