The University of Antwerp (Universiteit Antwerpen) is a young and dynamic Belgian university. It is characterised by its high standards in education, internationally competitive research and entrepreneurial approach. It was founded in 2003 after the merger of the three universities of Antwerp. The university's roots go back to 1852. The University of Antwerp has 9 faculties and several autonomous, faculty-like institutes. Doctoral programmes are available in all faculties, with more than 20,000 students (+1,280 PhD students) registered. In total the university has around 5.500 staff members. The University of Antwerp hosts 5 centres of excellence: Nanostructures, Molecular Neurogenetics, Environmental Studies, Social Policy, Evaluation of Vaccination Education is student-centred and competency-based. Students are stimulated to develop into independently minded people who are capable of thinking analytically. The University of Antwerp has adopted the bachelor-master structure. It offers 3-year Bachelor programmes (180 ECTS credits) and 1-year or 2-year Master programmes (60 or 120 ECTS credits). The university is part of the Antwerp University Association (AUHA), a regional association with the university and 3university colleges for professional education.

Kwaliteit en een goede reputatie: dat is de kracht van de HAN. Vanuit de campussen in Arnhem en in Nijmegen verzorgen wij voor ruim 31.000 studenten meer dan 80 bachelor- en masteropleidingen. De synergie tussen onderwijs, beroepenveld, onderzoek en maatschappij is daarbij een belangrijk aandachtspunt. De HAN investeert in onderwijs en onderzoek, verzorgt een breed aanbod aan opleidingen en een grote variëteit aan opleidingsvormen (in voltijd, deeltijd, duaal of individueel). Vanuit lectoraten verzorgen we toegepast onderzoek. Daarnaast richten we ons met advies, nascholing, trainingen en (post-hbo-)opleidingen op bedrijven, instellingen en organisaties. De HAN heeft zich nadrukkelijk op de kaart gezet als hoger onderwijsinstelling met goed onderwijs en toegepast onderzoek. dat heeft de afgelopen jaren geleid tot hoge tevredenheidscores, een sterke groei en een fors toegenomen binding met onze omgeving. Het onderhouden van deze basiskracht is doelstelling nummer 1. In de komende jaren gaat de HAN verder met de ingezette vernieuwingen te verdiepen, bestendigen en verankeren in de opleidingen. Hoe?
