Eric Ubias is the founder of Ubias Law PLLC. He has a passion for the convergence of law and technology and leverages his background in International Relations in his work in trade law and export controls. Mr. Ubias has advised clients on complex issues related to trade sanctions and anti-corruption compliance, cross-border data transfers, and export controls on encryption technology. He has also written and been engaged in various panels and speaking engagements on data privacy compliance and emerging technologies such as distributed ledger technology, digital assets and smart contracts. Before founding Ubias Law, Mr. Ubias was Senior Counsel with a boutique firm specializing in cross-border trade compliance with a primary focus on U.S. sanctions and export controls. Mr. Ubias was previously a Senior Associate in the White-Collar Defense Group at Latham & Watkins LLP, where his work involved conducting cross-border investigations in response to enforcement actions and investigations by the DOJ, SEC, PCAOB and FINRA. Eric is a member of the Virginia, New York, and District of Columbia bars. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and received his undergraduate degree in International Relations from Tufts University. He is both a member of and qualified as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP-US) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Marc A.
