UBC ICORD Information

ICORD is a world leading health research centre focused on spinal cord injury. From the lab-based cellular level of understanding injury to rehabilitation and recovery, our researchers are dedicated to the development and translation of more effective strategies to promote prevention, functional recovery, and improved quality of life after spinal cord injury. Located at Vancouver General Hospital in the Blusson Spinal Cord Centre, ICORD is supported by UBC Faculty of Medicine and Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute. Our vision: Make spinal cord injury preventable, livable, and curable. Our mission: Conduct research and training towards the development and translation of more effective strategies to promote prevention, functional recovery, and improved quality of life after spinal cord injury. ICORD Principal Investigators, Investigators and Associate Members come together from many different departments at the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, the B.C. Institute of Technology, and the University of Victoria, reflecting the wide breadth of expertise through the Centre. The Principal Investigators include four Chairs, established through the support of the Rick Hansen Foundation, and a variety of Canada Research Chairs, McLean Integrated Spine Clinic Scholars, and Canadian Institute of Health Research New Investigators.
