TURTLE FOUNDATION Information

The Turtle Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles and their habitats. Sea turtles have inhabited the world's oceans for 200 million years, but nowadays all remaining seven species are threatened with extinction. Massive poaching, bycatch and the pollution of the oceans and nesting beaches with plastic waste are exacerbating the situation more and more. We maintain conservation projects in Indonesia and on the Cape Verde island of Boa Vista. Together with the local population, we develop concepts on how to better protect sea turtles and carry out environmental educational and public relations work. OUR VISION: A future where sea turtles and their habitats are sustainably protected, healthy, and safe from threat of extinction and destruction. OUR MISSION: To contribute to sea turtle conservation at our own project sites by cooperating with local communities to create a future where both sea turtles and people can thrive.
