Turkey's first and biggest ceramic sanitary ware manufacturer and exporter Eczacıbaşı Building Products, has been producing sanitary ware since 1958 and bathroom furniture, bathtubs and shower trays since 1991 via its flagship VitrA brand. The Eczacıbaşı Group launched its successful Artema brand in 1983 when it began manufacturing bathroom and kitchen fixtures. Established in 1977, the Group's Bozüyük plant is one of the largest wholly integrated production facilities in its field globally. Eczacıbaşı Building Products employees over five thousand staff throughout its operations in Turkey, Germany, France and Russia, generating around 80 percent of its revenue from international sales and consistently ranks in the top five companies in its sector in terms of turnover in the countries where it operates.
Eczacibasi, which recalls an honorary title conferred at the turn of the century on a Turkish hospital pharmacist, is an internationally active, health-based industrial group in Turkey. The Eczacibasi Group operates in three core divisions, namely Pharmaceuticals, Building Materials, and Consumer Products. The Group is also active in capital markets, information systems, welding electrodes and foreign trade. With a history dating back to the 1940s, Eczacibasi is one of the oldest industrial groups in Turkey. Although the parent company is owned by the Eczacibasi family, four of the 35 Group companies are open to the public. Eczacibasi has a long history of international co-operation with leading international pharmaceuticals producers. Over the last two decades, this co-operation has extended to other areas and today, nine group companies are joint ventures with leading international firms in their sectors.
