Tuluk is a social enterprise which funds apprenticeships in artisan industries across Scotland, to rekindle learning and development of traditional skills. We partner with local artisans and makers who share our passion for preserving Scotland’s heritage, supporting them in creating apprenticeship programmes that nurture the next generation of craftspeople. By championing local materials and resources, we not only retain diverse and culturally significant skills but also contribute to economic regeneration across regions. The craftsmanship and expertise in creating tangible items by hand promotes a harmony that benefits individuals, communities, and the environment alike. Apprenticeships are open to all ages and funded through the sale of our distinctive duffel bags. These were inspired by the twentieth century explorer, artist, writer and botanist Isobel “Tuluk” Wylie Hutchison, whose life embodied community, sustainability and Scottish resourcefulness. Born out of a passion for artisans and their skill and craftsmanship, we wish to not only sustain traditional artisanal industries but create a platform to make these skills a first choice, valuing them equally to high-tech industries and recognising their vital contribution to our cultural and economic fabric.
