The “correct” phrase for what we do is “Convergent Technologies Systems Integration”, but few people outside our industry know what that means. The challenge in assigning us (and others in our industry) to a category is that we do many things: • Audio Visual Systems design, installation, and service: this includes things like video conferencing, audio conferencing, and presentation technologies (projectors, screens, and audio for corporate boardrooms, meeting rooms, and training facilities). Included in this category are classroom instructional technologies and advanced distance learning for K-12 and higher education clients, worship enhancement AV systems for houses of worship, and audio systems for performance venues like arts centers. • Advanced control systems: device and room control, asset management, environmental controls, and energy conservation. This sub-sector involves both design and installation of hardware and software development. • Media distribution: streaming video, archiving of audio and video, multi-venue and/or campus-wide distribution of live or recorded AV program material, and video on demand systems. • Medical communications: Nurse-Call Emergency notification equipment, personnel location, equipment tracking and maintenance scheduling as well as paging systems for hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare facilities. • We also design, install, and service communications systems for schools, including paging systems and centralized system-wide crisis management systems.
