It's built upon a strong partnership between the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), local public health agencies, tribal governments and a range of other organizations. MDH's mission is to protect, maintain and improve the health of all Minnesotans. It has about 1,500 employees and an annual budget of approximately $500 million in state, federal and fee-based funds.
Spread out across 516 square miles, including Aitkin, Cass, Crow Wing and Morrison Counties, Brainerd Public Schools serves more than 6,700 students per year.
Brainerd Public Schools has six elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and three alternative programming sites.
