Diane von Furstenberg is a fashion designer and Founder and Chairman of the company that bears her name. In 1974, she created the iconic wrap dress, which became a symbol of women’s power and independence. Today, DVF is a global luxury fashion brand known for its signature prints, color, and timeless style. Von Furstenberg’s commitment to empowering women extends beyond fashion through philanthropy and mentorship. She received the CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005, became the organization’s President in 2006, and was named Chairwoman in 2015. She has also served for more than a decade on the board of Vital Voices, supporting women leaders and entrepreneurs worldwide. In 2010, she and the Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation established the DVF Awards, honoring and supporting extraordinary women who demonstrate courage, leadership, and commitment to their causes. Her 2014 memoir, The Woman I Wanted to Be, has been translated into six languages. She was named one of the TIME 100 Most Influential People in 2015 and received the CFDA Swarovski Award for Positive Change in 2018. A longtime advocate for New York City, von Furstenberg helped support the preservation and transformation of the High Line. She serves on the boards of the Statue of Liberty–Ellis Island Foundation, The Shed, and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Von Furstenberg is married to Barry Diller. She has two children, Alexander and Tatiana, and four grandchildren. Despite her many accomplishments, she says, “Children are my greatest creation.”
