The Pequot Lakes Community Library was conceived by a group of local residents and, after much work, opened on July 2, 2004. We are a department of the City of Pequot Lakes. We do, however, raise our entire budget. The library is totally operated by volunteers. An average of four volunteers per day keep the library in tip-top shape: there are approximately 19,000 materials in the collection, an average of over 50 patrons per day, and a yearly budget of $15,000, of which 1/3 goes for the purchase of new materials. Continued donations of materials by the community are crucial to our success.
