Trees Matter is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to foster and inspire an increased, more balanced tree canopy in the Valley of the Sun. Our focus is to educate and motivate people to plant and care for trees. We give away over 5,000 trees to residents annually, educate over 4,000 residents on tree care, and plant hundreds of trees annually on school campuses, parks, and neighborhoods. We engage thousands of community members and hundreds of volunteers each year. What We Do: Utility Shade Tree Program: We partner with SRP and City of Mesa to provide thousands of free trees along with training to increase the amount of trees in the Valley and cool homes. Trees for Schools: We partner with schools to plant trees on campus, while having the students directly involved in the planting process with us. Annual Mesquite Pancake Breakfast for Dinner Fundraiser: our annual fundraiser that showcases mesquite flour and the benefits of the desert tree, while also providing donations for Trees Matter. Urban Food Forest Program: teaching the public on the function of trees as a means of food!
