IT Consultant and Web Designer IT consultant: • Determine software, hardware and network requirements • Define the scope of a project • Plan timescales • Clarify system specifications • Understand the client’s work practices and nature of the business • Travel to customer sites • Liaising with staff at all levels of an organization • Analyze IT requirements within a company • Give objective advice on the use of IT • Develop agreed solutions and implement new systems • Present solutions in written or oral reports • Help clients with change-management activities • Purchase systems where appropriate • Design, test, install and monitoring new systems • Prepare documentation and progress reports for clients • Organize training for users and other consultants • Maintain contact with client organizations • Identify potential clients to build and maintain contacts Web Designer: • Identify clients' needs and meet regularly with them • Draw up detailed website specifications • Design sample page layouts including text size and colors • Design graphics, animations and manipulating digital photos/videos • Register web domain names and organize the hosting of the website • Present initial design ideas to clients • Code using a variety of software • Work with different content management systems • Search engine optimization • Meet all legal requirements such as accessibility standards, freedom of information and privacy • Design the website's visual imagery and ensure it's in line with company branding policy • Proofread and edit content • Debug code and re-design web pages • Liaison with outside agencies • Test the website to ensure it is working • Hand the completed website over to the client • Research current design trends • Stay current with new software development
