Transformative Learning Technologies Lab Information

We are the TLTL (Transformative Learning Technologies Lab), an international research and design center on educational innovation, based at Columbia University in New York City (USA). Our mission is to transform how children and young people learn STEM+C+AI (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, computing, and artificial intelligence), promoting more authentic learning experiences that connect to students’ realities. Led by Associate Professor Paulo Blikstein, our team brings together researchers from diverse nationalities and disciplines, with experience in multidisciplinary and multicultural projects. We conduct rigorous research and collaborate with educators and public officials globally to develop innovative educational methodologies and technologies, always grounded in constructionist, student-centered, equitable, and inclusive approaches. With a global presence in over 20 countries, we partner with schools, governments, and educational institutions to impact classrooms and other learning spaces. Our projects are designed to engage with local cultures and promote learning experiences that connect students’ knowledge to their communities and interests. We believe innovation is built through collaboration — that’s why we share practices, resources, and insights to support an international community of educators, researchers, and policymakers.
