Formed in 1996 by volunteer Worker Directors at First Group in Sheffield, Transave was originally set up as a credit union for employees in the passenger transport industry. From the outset, the simple aim was to help colleagues in financial need and encourage the habit of saving regularly. Over the years, we have extended our membership to cover employees from many other sectors, including engineering, police and healthcare. Today, Transave has over 30,000 members and rising, with accumulated savings of over £65 million. Like all credit unions, Transave is a not-for-profit savings and loans cooperative. Members of Transave pool their savings so we can lend responsibly to one another at a reasonable rate of interest. We provide: Competitive financial products, including savings accounts and loans. - A friendly, professional and ethical service - A flexible, personal approach to their finances There are no additional charges or fees for any of our services and any profits generated are put back into the credit union for the benefit of our members, normally in the form of an annual dividend.
