Toro River Lodges is a Big 5 African Safari destination located in the Kruger area of South Africa...catering to your every safari Dream! The Philipps family are the dedicated owners and driving forces behind Toro River Lodges. Their longtime conservation beliefs, their safari lifestyles, and pride of South African Heritage, bringing a very special mix of diverse attributes to their 'Toro River Lodges'. A bit of History: Our family has had long generational ties with this area and the South African safari industry. The original founder of the reserve built his private lodge on the very site, of the now “Toro Views” back in 1994. A decade ago, we started making plans to acquire this prime site and the surrounding land, after falling in love with its absolutely stunning setting. Located high on a cliff, overlooking the Makhutswi river, the game-rich Toro Plains fading off to the North and the famed Drakensburg mountain sunsets to the west, there is truly no place so lovely or quite like it. The Philipps family advanced over the years and successfully attempted to build a complete safari package at Toro River Lodges, now generously opening their doors during this very difficult period in the time of COVID - 19, allowing other families already in South Africa to enjoy the unique experiences that Toro offers just like if owning the place.
