After launching and scaling their advertising platform the company was acquired by Austin-based eLawSystems (2006). The cost of a first time DUI conviction can be between $10K-$15K. The site's target audience was the 1.5M US citizens arrested for drunk driving each year. The site originally served as a content aggregator for laws and processes related to drunk driving charges. In the late 1990's and early 2000's, after Google's AdWords advertising platform launched, with criminal law keywords being among the most expensive, the company expanded into advertising for DUI lawyers, insurance providers and others seeking to reach consumers urgently dealing with drunk driving charges.
