Tomatopia was born from the meeting of Paolo Riente and Francesco Martorelli, with the idea of bringing together their paths, skills, and passions into a project rooted in their land of origin. Sharing the same purpose, they also involved Francesco Guaglianone and Luca Spinelli: together they shaped Tomatopia. Tomatopia is a regenerative mountain agriculture project based in Sant’Agata di Esaro, Calabria, focused on enhancing the territory and its agricultural heritage. Our work starts from cultivation, but looks at the value chain as a whole: we aim to develop a broad range of fruit and vegetable production, promoting local (native) varieties and Calabrian traditions, while also adopting crops and solutions that are consistent with the farm’s operational sustainability and product quality. We operate with a regenerative approach, with the goal of improving soil fertility over time and supporting biodiversity through practical, verifiable practices. In parallel, we work to reduce the environmental impact of our farming activities, with particular attention to efficient water management and continuous improvement of field operations. Our vision goes beyond building an agricultural business: Tomatopia aims to evolve into a broader project that can include a hospitality component and a community of supporters. Our goal is to contribute positively to local life and the surrounding area, strengthening the existing community and welcoming people who share the same approach, including supporters from other parts of Italy and the world.
