Ritual Coffee Roasters opened in May 2005 with the intention to share amazing coffee with San Francisco and it was only a matter of weeks, or maybe just one, before Ritual had a line out the door. Many of our customers asked what we were doing to our coffee to make it taste so good, while the connoisseurs simply wanted to know what took us so long to get here. Since then, we've devoted ourselves to sourcing the best coffee in the world by creating unique partnerships with groups and individuals throughout Central and South America. Our focus on sourcing allows us to offer seasonally fresh coffees throughout the year.

The world has become saturated with stuff. The endless ennui that comes from a life lived at digital pace, sliced and diced into a fast-paced but vacant pop video edit, warped with FOMO and the insecurity of OPI (Other People’s Instagram). Where time is hacked into diarised chunks and kidnapped by screens, attention diverted by countless channels of entertainment, or work, or just things that stop your mind from having to think, swamped by Unsocial Media. But there is an answer. And it has burgers.

Coffee is for life’s doers, and we’ve been on the go since day one. Percol was the first ground coffee to be Fairtrade certified. We pioneered the use of organic and single-origin beans. And we’ve spent decades investing in the farmers who grow our delicious coffee, generation after generation. Our next mission? To be the most sustainable coffee company. Plastic-free. Carbon-neutral. Fairtrade-certified. It’s not the only way to run a business, but it’s the only way we want to run ours. COFFEE: At Percol, we care about where our coffee comes from. That’s why we support the Rainforest Alliance and the Soil Association, and now have twice as many organic products in our range. Our beans are hand-picked at source and freshly roasted in the UK. When you care, you do it properly. CONSCIOUS: We’ve been ethical innovators since day one. Now we’re leading the way again, as the UK’s first coffee company to go plastic-free. But it doesn’t stop there. We’re also Carbon-neutral certified, so we’re not causing a negative impact on our planet. This is crafting coffee with a conscience. COMMUNITY: Coffee is the heart and soul of our farming communities. Back in 1987, we were the first ground coffee to bear the Fairtrade mark. Now, our entire roast & ground range is Fairtrade certified, meaning we’re continually supporting the next generation of coffee growers. For us, it’s about putting people and planet before profits.
