TOA Systems operates a global lightning detection network focused on providing the most accurate and reliable global detection, now and for years to come. TOA Systems' network of sensors is designed to provide optimal performance for customers and is capable of detecting lightning strikes with high accuracy, utilizing time-difference-of-arrival ("TDOA") calculated from multiple sensors detecting each strike. Company founder Dr. Rodney Bent, was the first developer this widely-recognized detection technology and registered the original patent for lightning location in the 1980s. The Global Lightning Network (GLN), which includes the market-leading North American Precision Lightning Network (NAPLN) is equipped to carefully distinguish between cloud-to-ground and inter-/intra-cloud lightning events, determine the strength and other key information related to each strike, and to establish the location of individual lightning strikes. Clients includes governments, national meteorological services (NMS), power companies, airlines, media broadcasters, mining operations and many others.
